Griha Pravesh Puja Vidhi — Step by Step

Here is the complete step-by-step Griha Pravesh puja vidhi as performed in the Vedic tradition:

Step 1 — Sankalp (Intention Setting)

The head of the family takes a sankalp — a formal statement of intention — holding water, akshat, and flowers in their palm while the pandit recites the mantras. This is done in front of the Kalash.

Step 2 — Ganesh Puja

Lord Ganesha is always invoked first in any Hindu ritual. He is the remover of obstacles. A Ganesha idol is placed at the entrance or the puja area, anointed with roli and chandan, and offered flowers, modak, and durva grass. Placing a Ganesha idol permanently at your entrance is also a Vastu recommendation for every new home.

Step 3 — Kalash Sthapana
