Radha Kunda Snan 2026: 1 November Date & Mathura Timings
Radha Kunda Snan 2026 is observed on Sunday, 1 November, with the principal midnight period crossing into 2 November. In Braj, the occasion draws attention to Shri Radha Rani and the sacred kund associated with her devotion to Krishna. For a pilgrim, preparation begins before reaching the steps: understanding the date, respecting the place and leaving enough room for other people's prayer.

Drik Panchang's selected Mathura page supplies these local reference times. Webdunia's current Radha Kund report independently gives the same date, tithi boundaries and midnight clock range. The midnight rollover is written out here to avoid confusion. Local Panchang timings may vary; a Panchang window is not an administrative guarantee of access or a temple's operating schedule.
Why Radha Kund matters in Braj devotion
The kund is a sacred place of Radha-Krishna remembrance. In a traditional account, after Krishna defeats the bull-demon Aristasura, a discussion about purification leads to the manifestation of Shyam Kund. Radha and her companions create an adjoining kund, traditionally described as dug with their bangles. The story is told as divine lila, expressing devotion and the sacred presence of the waters—not as a modern engineering history.
The association with Radha Rani gives the snan its devotional centre. People bring prayers for their families, gratitude and deeply personal hopes. Some couples traditionally seek blessings for children. Such a prayer is an expression of faith, not a fertility treatment or a guarantee of pregnancy. No family should be blamed for hardship or told that paying for a ritual will determine its future.
In North Indian Purnimanta reckoning this is Kartik Krishna Ashtami; Amanta calendars call the month Ashwin. Our Kartik Maas calendar and home-practice guide explains the distinction. Do not confuse this autumn observance with Radha Ashtami, the separate celebration of Radha Rani's appearance.
Samagri: keep the offering simple and the ghat clean
- Clean clothes and a towel if you intend to bathe and local arrangements permit it.
- Flowers, fruit or another modest offering accepted by the shrine you are visiting.
- A small prayer text and a clean plate or reusable container for your offerings.
- Roli for customary ritual tilak and akshat for the puja plate, where used in your tradition; do not scatter powders or rice into the kund.
- Drinking water kept separately from ritual water. If your home practice uses it, Gangajal for household puja is an optional preparation item, not a substitute for visiting Radha Kund or an instruction to drink ritual water.
Some participants offer kushmanda, the white pumpkin also called petha, with red cloth. Confirm the appropriate procedure and collection point locally rather than leaving offerings in the water. Do not confuse the whole ritual offering with a requirement to buy sweets or a large package of supplies.
If your family uses ritual tilak, our 30g Roli (Kumkum) helps keep that small preparation ready for home worship before your journey. It is currently ₹45. Carry only the amount you need in a secure container; keep ritual powder out of food and the pond. This is a physical puja item, not a snan booking, access pass or complete ritual kit.

A respectful observance, step by step
1. Confirm the date and your family's intention
Write down both sides of the midnight date change before planning your visit. Discuss whether you are travelling for darshan, prayer, bathing or a combination. Speak gently about expectations: participation should not become a test of faith, family status or physical endurance. Children can join prayer without being asked to fast or enter the water.
2. Check local arrangements before approaching the ghat
Use current district information and instructions from the people managing the site. Agree on a meeting point with companions, carry essentials securely and allow others to pass. A religious timing reference does not confirm parking, road access or crowd-control routes. This guide does not claim that any particular 2026 entry arrangement has been announced.
3. Offer prayer without rushing the ritual
Remember Radha and Krishna, offer a simple namaskar and state your prayer in your own language. Follow the customary sequence of the shrine or your trusted guide. Where bathing is permitted and appropriate for you, follow the supervised local arrangement; do not rush, push, dive or enter an unfamiliar section of water. Prayer from a safe place is a practical option when conditions prevent participation in bathing; it is not presented here as an identical ritual substitute.
4. Complete the offering and leave thoughtfully
Use the designated place for flowers, cloth and other offerings, and take packaging away. Keep lamps only where permitted and supervised. At home, you can honour the occasion with a clean prayer space, simple remembrance and an offering suited to your household. Our Radha-Krishna bhog preparation article offers related home ideas; its festival date and midday customs should not be transferred to this midnight observance.
Fasting, Ahoi puja and nearby temple visits
The pilgrimage snan and the household Ahoi vrat share a tithi but are not one interchangeable ritual. If you also keep Ahoi, follow your family's food and completion customs; do not replace evening star-sighting with this midnight window. See our Ahoi Ashtami date, puja and star-sighting guide for that separate observance. This article does not require a dry fast or changes to prescribed medicines.
Radha Kund appears on the Mathura district administration's Govardhan parikrama route alongside places such as Danghati Temple and Kusum Sarovar. A wider Braj itinerary may also include Radha-Krishna temples in Vrindavan. Do not turn the night into a race to complete every shrine or the full parikrama. Confirm each temple's current darshan arrangements separately.
Frequently asked questions
Is Radha Kunda Snan on 1 or 2 November 2026?
The observance is on 1 November night. Its reference midnight window continues into the early minutes of 2 November; that rollover does not create a second festival.
Are these timings for Delhi or Mathura?
The table uses Mathura, India, in IST (UTC+5:30). Pilgrims visiting the kund should use the pilgrimage location's reference, not automatically their home city's calendar.
Is the snan the same as Ahoi Ashtami puja?
No. They share the lunar date, but the Braj bathing tradition and household Ahoi worship have distinct customs and timings.
Does bathing guarantee that a couple will have a child?
No. Seeking Radha Rani's blessings is a devotional tradition, not a medical guarantee. Appropriate professional care and compassionate family support should never be replaced by such a claim.
Must I buy a package or enter the pond to offer prayer?
No purchase is needed for the simple remembrance described here. Follow lawful local arrangements and your own circumstances; do not enter the water under pressure or assume a paid package guarantees access.
Let preparation support devotion
Keep the date clear, your belongings modest and your attention on Radha-Krishna remembrance. If you need it for your household's tilak custom, prepare your small roli container before leaving. A thoughtful visit also leaves space, cleanliness and kindness for the next pilgrim. Radhe Radhe.
