Four-armed Maa Siddhidatri murti seated on a lotus with mace, chakra, conch and lotus flower, with sesame bhog for Navami worship on 19–20 October 2026

Maa Siddhidatri Puja 2026: Navami Date, Bhog & Home Guide

Maa Siddhidatri Puja 2026 brings the Navadurga journey to its ninth form. For Delhi, Navami spans Monday, 19 October and the morning of Tuesday, 20 October; the sunrise-based Siddhidatri observance used in this guide is 20 October. If your family follows Navami worship on the 19th, do not assume its practice is mistaken. The lunar transition and the purpose of each ritual matter more than a simple count of calendar dates.

⏰ Delhi reference: Navami begins during 19 October and continues into 20 October 2026.
This guide uses Tuesday, 20 October for sunrise-based Siddhidatri home worship. Exact clock times are omitted because consulted calculations differ. Local Panchang timings and temple schedules may vary.

Siddhidatri Puja date: why do 19 and 20 October both appear?

The New Delhi Dev Panchang lists Siddhidatri with Navami on Tuesday, 20 October. Ishvaram's New Delhi Panchang, visibly calculated in Asia/Kolkata, independently confirms Navami at sunrise that day. Its preceding day's page records the daytime Ashtami transition on 19 October. These checks support the two-date explanation without turning a rounded minute into a universal muhurat.

The Drik Panchang Delhi Navratri calendar includes Maha Navami among the 19 October observances, while placing Navami Homa on 20 October. That is why “Navami date” alone is not enough to choose every appointment. Nine Devi forms need not occupy nine consecutive civil dates. Keep our Sharad Navratri calendar and Devi sequence nearby, then check the schedule relevant to your practice.

Who is Maa Siddhidatri?

The Siddhidatri deity reference describes a lotus-seated, four-handed form holding a mace, chakra, lotus and conch. Its devotional account connects her manifestation with Adi-Parashakti and Shiva, and with the Ardhanarishvara tradition. These are sacred narratives expressed within a particular devotional account, not historical claims requiring every household to use identical wording.

Her name is associated with the bestowal of siddhis. For an ordinary home observance, let that inspire humility rather than an expectation of supernatural powers or guaranteed success. A useful reflection is to ask what your days of worship have changed in your conduct: have you listened more patiently, spoken more gently or made space for someone else's needs? That personal reflection is an invitation, not a scriptural quotation.

A simple Siddhidatri home-puja sequence

1. Prepare a calm, familiar shrine

Wash and arrange a clean place to sit. Use your existing Devi image or murti; buying a new idol is not required. Keep an installed Navratri kalash secure instead of repeating Ghatasthapana. Gather the offering plate before beginning so prayer is not interrupted by searching for utensils. Our Navratri home-puja routine gives the wider daily context.

2. Recall your sankalp

State your intention in words you understand. Follow your household's customary opening prayers, including Ganesha remembrance where practised. Invite family members to join without making length or complexity a test of devotion. Someone who cannot sit for long can offer a short prayer from a comfortable place.

3. Offer water, flowers and customary materials

Arrange the offerings respectfully according to family practice. If you need tilak material, roli and kumkum for the shrine can be useful; ritual powder should stay separate from food. A small, manageable setup is easier to keep clean and safe than an elaborate arrangement prepared in haste.

4. Recite the name mantra

The cited deity reference gives this simple salutation:

ॐ देवी सिद्धिदात्र्यै नमः॥
Om Devi Siddhidatryai Namah.

Recite attentively or take pronunciation help from someone you trust. This home guide does not prescribe a compulsory count. After recitation, pause quietly. Children may join by offering a flower or listening to the name; they need not handle incense, lamps or hot vessels.

5. Present bhog and perform aarti

Offer a modest portion in a clean bowl, then conclude with your familiar Devi aarti. If you use a lamp, place it on a stable nonflammable surface and supervise it throughout. Desi ghee for puja is an optional preparation item when appropriate to your lamp. No unattended overnight flame is required by this guide. Extinguish it safely when supervision ends.

Sesame bhog, samagri and fasting

Drik Panchang's nine-Devi prasad list associates sesame seeds with Siddhidatri. Follow your household's offering custom, using a small clean portion. A bhog association does not establish a universal fasting-food rule. For other daily offerings, see our Navratri bhog preparation guide.

  • Existing Devi image or murti, clean cloth and water.
  • Flowers and customary tilak materials.
  • Sesame offering, clean bowl and separate serving utensils.
  • Prayer text and, if used, a stable lamp with suitable wick and fuel.

Keep the fasting intention you have already undertaken; do not suddenly intensify it because Navratri is ending. Confirm parana separately for your chosen vrat and local calendar. Homa, Kanya Pujan, ordinary home puja and ending a fast are distinct practices. If inviting guests, ask about food suitability and allergies, especially before sharing sesame preparations. This is devotional guidance, not a medical fasting prescription.

A Siddhidatri-associated pilgrimage tradition

The Varanasi Temples account of Siddheshwari connects the shrine with Siddhidatri and ninth-day Navratri worship. It also notes another Devi shrine in Sidhamata Galli. Treat this as pilgrimage background, not a verified 2026 festival timetable. Confirm access and arrangements directly before travelling; home worship remains meaningful if you cannot visit.

Frequently asked questions

Is Siddhidatri Puja on 19 or 20 October 2026?
Navami spans both dates in Delhi. This guide uses sunrise-based worship on 20 October; some Navami rites are listed on the 19th. Follow your relevant family or temple schedule.

What bhog is associated with Maa Siddhidatri?
Sesame seeds appear in the cited nine-Devi offering tradition. Household practices can vary.

Must I perform a havan at home?
This simple home-puja plan does not require one. If your tradition includes homa, obtain appropriate instruction and safe arrangements.

Does offering sesame mean everyone fasting must eat it?
No. An offering association is not a universal dietary rule. Follow your established vrat practice and consider individual food suitability.

Must I buy special items to complete Navratri?
No. Use what is appropriate and available, with attention and cleanliness. Products are optional aids, not conditions for receiving grace.

📖 Keep the final Navratri preparations in one place
